Zapp Equips Polytechnics Student Lab

Zapp has recently equipped the Optical Communication Systems and Networks and Multiplex Transmission Lab of the Electronics and Telecommunications Faculty (Polytechnics University of Bucharest) with telecom gear and computers.

The action is part of the Student 2004 program that Zapp launched this April to support students in the business and engineering fields in choosing and building their career. Student 2004 has already facilitated the employment of young graduates in key departments of the company and has offered financial and material support for important student bodies in the business and engineering fields.

"We believe that building a solid base of Romanian telecom specialists is very important for developing the industry, and so we are very happy to be able to help the Electronics and Telecommunications Faculty in offering state-of-the-art teaching equipment for future engineers, who we want by our side for developing the Zapp business", said Cuneyt Turktan, Chairman of the Zapp Board.

"This equipment gives us the possibility to take full advantage of modern teaching methods that require direct interaction with devices and tools used on a daily basis in the telecom sector", said Ioan Duma, lecturer within the Department of Telecommunications of the Electronics and Telecommunications Faculty.

The sponsorship for the Optical Communication Systems and Networks and Multiplex Transmission Lab is new step in Zapp's policy of getting actively involved in the life of the Romanian students. Earlier this year, Zapp signed a partnership with BEST (Board of European Students of Technology) Bucharest. In April, Zapp was the main partner for the BEST Engineering Competition, that offered students a chance to compete in finding the best solution for engineering problems.

Moreover, the employment policy of the company encourages recruiting students or graduates, especially from the engineering field, for training, part time or even full time jobs. In the past few weeks alone, a number of six students took part in a training session within Zapp's technical department and a graduate of the Timisoara Polytechnics was hired full time by the company.

Gaining practical experience during college years is extremely important and Zapp is one of the few Romanian companies offering this opportunity to those interested in building a career in the dynamic mobile communications industry. The first step that Zapp strongly supports is for all interested students to send their resume to
